Gem gals! I was soooo excited to see all the color and variety of gemstones this year at the Emmys! I won’t lie, the show this year was a complete snooze. But who cares?! There was some great jewelry going on that we need to talk about!
Let’s get started!
Emerald earrings
Emeralds have been all the rage lately. Think back to just last month when Cardi B wore those jaw-droppingly large emerald earrings to the MTV Music Awards. It looks like I wasn’t the only one who thought that was a good idea! Both Dakota Fanning and Allison Janney showed they were emerald fans, too. Dakota’s gorgeous Colombian earrings were from Lorraine Schwartz, while Allison’s diamond and emerald earrings were from designer Jared Lehr.

I love the way Allison and Cardi B paired their earrings with another vivid color like fuchsia! Risky!
Mixed Gemstones
Two women had some truly amazing earrings! First up, Emilia Clarke. You may know her from this little show called Game of Thrones. She wore these stunning Fernando Jorge earrings. With green tourmaline and nephrite and diamonds, they are yummy! You can get them for yourself for a cool $35,000!

Next up, Regina King. She actually WON lead actress for her role in “Seven Seconds.” Her speech was so funny, she was clearly surprised! Congrats, Regina! Besides winning the Emmy, she looked absolutely fabulous in her Christian Siriano dress and gemstone drop earrings from Irene Neuwirth.

Do you notice how all I’ve been talking about are earrings? Statement earrings seemed to be the trend of this Emmys show.
Unusual Gemstones
A couple women impressed me with their choices to highlight an unusual gemstone. For Poppy Delevingne, it was citrine. For Leslie Jones, it was opal. Poppy had these absolutely stunning citrine and diamond earrings. Plus, really cute black bows in her hair! Leslie looked so cool. Her shimmery diamond and opal earrings (by Jordan Alexander) went perfectly with her iridescent pantsuit. And kudos to her for being different and not wearing a dress.

Dripping with diamonds
The staple of every Hollywood girl’s wardrobe was around in spades at this awards show. I picked four ladies that I thought had some exquisite earrings. Thandie Newton’s spiral diamonds (from Harry Winston, of course!) were divine! And Scarlett Johansson’s long rectangular diamonds from Greek designer Nikos Koulis looked amazing! Of course, Tiffany Haddish did a great job showing off her diamond earrings from Lorraine Schwartz with her colorful dress. The colors in her dress are the same as the Eritrea flag, which I thought was unusual, until I read it was a nod to her heritage. Cool! And lastly, Rachel Brosnahan had gorgeous dangly diamonds from the Tiffany Paper Flowers Collection.

I had never heard of Rachel before the Emmys. Not only did she win the Emmy for her work in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, that show won a tons of awards, too. Looks like I have something I need to add to my queue!
Hair jewelry
I can’t lie, I’m a sucker for good hair jewelry, and the Emmys didn’t disappoint. There were two outstanding examples. Sarah Paulson wore a beautiful dragonfly brooch (from Tiffany) in her bun. And Letitia Wright (she was up for an Emmy for best supporting actress for her work in in a Black Mirror) had little crystals all over her bun. So pretty!

Gold rules!
Sometimes the best looks are pure gold! I’m talking about Angela Bassett, who had these big circular gold earrings.

And then there was Zazie Beetz, who wore what I can only describe as a gold….. ensemble…. ??? I can’t figure out if it was part of her dress or not. But I loved it!

Best for Last
I couldn’t fit Sandra Oh into any of these categories, but I thought she was the superstar of the evening! Besides the sad fact that she’s the first Asian American nominated as lead actress (how is that possible in 2018???!!!), she brought her parents as her dates. They went crazy telling everyone how proud they were of their daughter. It was so sweet! And not to mention, she had AMAZING jewelry! Like her completely fabulous bracelet, with tons of rubies and diamonds!
